Vehicle finance · Västra Götaland
Three ways to drive a car. Only one of them ends with you owning it.
Svensk Finansservice AB provides vehicle finance from Ljung, in Herrljunga municipality. Whether the car is for a household or a business, the first decision is not the monthly cost — it is what happens at the end of the contract, and what it costs to get there.
Loan, leasing, private leasing — side by sideGeneral comparison
Car loan
billån
During the contract
You drive a car you are paying off. The lender usually retains title until the loan is repaid.
Mileage limit
None. Drive as far as you like.
Main risk
The car loses value faster than the loan falls in the early years.
Leasing
företagsleasing
During the contract
Usually for businesses. Payments are set against an agreed residual value at the end.
Mileage limit
Often agreed, because it drives the residual value.
Main risk
If the car is worth less than the residual value, the difference may fall on you.
Private leasing
privatleasing
During the contract
A monthly fee to use the car, often with some services included.
Mileage limit
Yes — typically stated per year, with charges for excess.
Main risk
Costs at return: excess mileage and damage assessed at inspection.
At the endThe car is yours
At the endReturn, buy out or settle residual
At the endYou hand the car back
A simplified general comparison. The terms of each contract decide the details, and they vary considerably between providers.
The Swedish mile
Mileage limits are written in mil — and one mil is ten kilometres
Swedish contracts usually state distance in Swedish miles: 1 mil = 10 km. A limit of 1 500 mil a year is 15 000 km. Anyone used to kilometres — or to English miles — can misjudge a limit by a factor of ten or more. Enter your own figures below.
From your contract. 1 mil = 10 km.
Commute × working days + everything else.
From your contract. Leave at 0 if you do not know it yet.
Your limit, converted
Expected excess over the contract, mil
Estimated excess charge, SEK
An arithmetic aid using only the figures you enter. It stores nothing and is not a quote: the actual calculation, any tolerance and any charge are defined by your contract.
When the car goes back
The inspection decides the final bill
Handing back a leased car usually involves an inspection against the provider's wear-and-tear standard. Normal wear is expected; damage beyond it is charged. The difference is defined in the contract, so read that section before signing — not when the car is due back.
Photograph the car at deliveryEvery panel, the wheels, the interior and the windscreen, with dates. Existing marks are then not your marks.
Ask for the wear-and-tear guideWhat counts as normal for stone chips, kerbed wheels, seat wear and dents — before signing, in writing.
Be present at the inspectionWhere possible, attend or arrange a joint inspection, and ask for a written report with photographs.
Consider a repair firstA small repair arranged by you may cost less than the charge for the same damage at return. Compare before deciding.

Five questions to ask every provider
Us included. The monthly figure is the least informative number in the contract.
01
What is the total cost over the whole contract? All payments, all fees and any amount due at the end, added together. Compare that across offers.
02
What happens at the end, exactly?Ownership, return, buy-out or a residual value to settle — and who bears the risk if the car is worth less than expected.
03
What is the mileage limit, in mil, and the charge per mil over it?Run your own figures through the calculator above before agreeing a limit.
04
What does ending early cost?Life changes. Ask what it costs to leave the contract in year one, two and three.
05
What is included, and what is extra?Insurance, servicing, tyres, road tax. Something "included" is still paid for — check whether you could buy it cheaper separately.
Questions
Asked regularly
i.Is private leasing cheaper than buying?
Monthly, often yes. Over time, not necessarily — at the end you own nothing. Compare the total cost of each route against what you have at the end of it.
ii.I will drive more than my limit. What should I do?
Raise the limit before signing if you can; it is usually cheaper than paying excess at the end. If already signed, ask the provider whether the limit can be adjusted during the contract.
iii.Can I sell a car that still has a loan on it?
Usually only after the loan is settled or with the lender's agreement, because the lender typically retains title. Ask for a settlement figure first.
iv.Someone offered finance in your name for a fee paid in advance.
Do not pay. No legitimate finance provider charges a fee before an agreement is concluded. Check any provider in Finansinspektionen's register before sharing documents.
